P1010913

A quick note to say that we are moving on from the Lakes District of Argentina. This most magnificent area is well worth a visit. We got plenty of climbing in the mountains as per our last post and then spent several days exploring the great sport climbing in the area.

Ben loving the overhanging rock, Lago Gutierrez in the background

In between climbing sessions, we were enchanted by the awesome scenary! The lakes of the lakes district are generally very large lakes-more like small seas-which means great kayaking, beaches, sunsets and just a general feeling of summer!

The calm before the storm. Taken just hours before Lindsey's first bout of food poisoning.

Thanks to all for the fun and wonderful comments (granola1 and maxkunz - shouts out for your additions!!)

And certainly, no goodbye would be complete without a huge thanks to Alisa and Nate for their ongoing patience and generosity to us! Thank you both and we look forward to catching up with you elsewhere around the globe.

We will now be heading down the famous Ruta 40, a mix of bumpy pavement and dirt road that stretches from Bariloche to Chalten along the eastside of the mighty Andes. The road will cover some 1000+ kms and leave us at the mountain paradise of southern Patagonia!

Peeping??
Lindsey, I hope your battle with the food poisoning is coming out with you on top. Enduring a 1000 km bus ride while resisting the urge to 'peep' sounds brutal, but I'm sure they have some South American version of Immodium you can take.

Godspeed, and hopes you encounter clean toilet.

Rocknit!

Have an amazing time in El Chalten
Aww man, I don't know if you have been to Mt Fitz Roy yet, but I'm excited to see your pictures. Perhaps you will be backpacking and scrambling cerro madsen, or doing the glacier route on Cerro Solo (The cupcake as Ben Glenn likes to call it). Rock on you two!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Hi Ben & Lindsey,

We are really enjoying visiting your blog. My son-in-law Marc (Tracy's husband)is also checking out your data, as he(a major world traveller)went to Peru two years ago and loved it.
We just got back from Puerto Vallarta (loved the heat), and are headed to Vegas in a month, after a weekend with the Dreaded Det in Vancouver where we will see Stu Sonne's son play hockey and bid adieu to Sally as she commutes to Chile to see you two adventurers.
What an awesome trip you are on - the pics are incredible and you are just started. I gotta go to Argentina.

Buen Viaje!
Hey Ben and Lindsey!

Hope you guys are eating up the trekking and whatnot further south in Patagonia! It was, of course, great to have you guys as house guests and companions! I keep finding myself packing up for some cragging only to realize I need to pack up my resume because everyone´s at work or elsewhere traveling now! haha. But seriously: enjoy yourselves to the maxtest! I´m sure we´ll meet up eventually!

Take care,
-your new bud, n8

Altho pic.'s say 1000 wds, we'd like to hear more: expand, be fulsome, enlarge, more detail... We envy you so much, we think we'll join you guys. Had a great dinner last night in honour of Lindsey's bad food experience and toasted your renewed health, gal. Have a nice drive!

Replies to you all!
Hi all! Thanks for all the great and fun comments!

Tim - toilets down here are way better than most toilets in Peru and Bolivia!! Many of them even have toilet paper! Unbelieveable. However, we are staying the free campsite outside of El Chalten and its dumper is just a big, stinky pit! Good times, mate!! Also, chest hair will now become a must for future blogposts... way to remind me, mate!!

Bram - been in El Chalten for several days now and have been hiking and scrambling around a ton! Stoked to get some good internet in El Calafate and get some photos up there for all of you! Poached a sweet campsite at Lago de los Tres for an unbelievable sunrise on Fitzroy! Climbed Cerro Torre last night in a single push from town with 1 liter of water... (right!)

Sally - promise to add more details and such when we get good internet!

Joe and Barb - thanks for you update!! so stoked to hear from you both! Best to S. Sonne and his family for the big game!

Nate and Alisa - you guys have to get down to El Chalten! It's amazing! Email before you go for beta!
