We came down here to see the Irrawaddy Dolphins that supposedly swim in the Mekong river but alas we never even got a glimpse. The Mekong bulges out at Si Phan Don and is dotted with islands. Don Det is basic, it doesn't have electricity but this made for fantastic views of the night sky. We have had a good few days down here strolling through the fields of wheat and enjoying the colours that only pure, undiluted, brlliant sunshine brings!
