Where I stayed
Wednesday we took a 45 minute taxi from Livingstone, Zambia and ferry acrossed the boarder to Kusane, Botswana. We camped at Chobe Safari Lodge, which is a very nice resort but since we camped we were able to save a lot of pula (no not mula, their currency is actually called pula) and still use their pool and amenities.
Thursday we did a game drive in Chobe National Park, which made us realize how fortunate we were to do our safari in Tanzania a couple months ago! We only saw a fraction of the animals we had seen in Tanzania. We also went on a boat safari which was amazing. We saw many animals coming down to the Chobe River to drink as the sun was setting. Across the river we could see into Namibia. It was one of the most remarkable views I've ever seen
Friday morning we went fishing just after sunrise. We had high hopes of catching a tigerfish, but three hours later we only had 1 bite with nothing to show for it. Having an unlucky start to the day we decided to try our luck at golf. An equally frustrating activity. I tend to classify a golf game as 'good' if I end with the same ball I started with. If we were rating our performance on the unmarked, mapless course we played on I don't know if we had a 'good' hole. Too bad we couldn't interchange the number of fish we caught with the number of balls we lost!! It was still a lot of fun. When are we ever going to golf where we see warthogs on the green, have to watch for crocs along the water hazards, or roll the pull cart through elephant dung? Probably not again any time soon. After spending the afternoon cooling down by the pool we ended our time in Botswana with a nice dinner cruise.
