We survived climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and a 6-day safari!  Unfortunately we haven't had internet access since we arrived. Now that we are settled into our house in Arusha hopefully I will be much more on top of updating our blog. In the next couple days I'll put up pics and stories of our last two weeks.
Last night we arrived back in Arusha from our safari.  My parents are staying in a very nice hotel about 6 houses down from our house (safe and catered to). The hospital Ben is doing his rotation at has many visiting volunteer students, residents, surgeons, and physicians. They have 5 houses that they house guests; all of which have a gate and 24hr guard.
Today we spent the morning setting up the internet and doing laundry before church. We were picked up by Dr. Mark Jacobson (the director of the hospital) for church later in the morning.  We went to Arusha Community Church which is an interdenominational church of 200 people.  I was surprised that half were Tanzanian and the other half were Caucasian from all over Europe and America. The church does not have a pastor or any employees so all of the sermons and music are from volunteers in the congregation or visitors. We all enjoyed the service and felt very welcomed. After church we went out to a great Chinese restaurant with Dr. Jacobson and a handful of other volunteers who filled us in on Arusha and the hospital. Other than spending two hours washing our cloths by hand we had a great first day in Arusha! Tomorrow morning Ben and I will be going to Arusha Lutheran Medical Center for orientation.
