I woke up just before sunrise and prepared for the day trip to Katherine Gorge we had planned with the small group comprising of Jan, Michael, Chris and Pat. Jan had kindly offered to drive us to the gorge and we would go out on one of the guided boat tours up the gorge.

When we arrived we booked our places on the tour (very expensive but what price is beauty?).
We had a couple of hours before it started so we walked up the track to the first lookout (my foot was still sore but had improved considerably from the day before). Stunning views up the river from the vantage point just before the first gorge. We had arrived before 9am so the sun was still just rising over the sheer walls on the other side of other river.

We eventually boarded the boat for the tour at 11am and watched the incredible scenery of the first two gorges. It was breathtaking. Apparently the river level was much lower than it is usually at this time of year and swimming was still banned due to the possible salty crocs lurking in the area. It didn't matter as I could sit back on the side of the boat and let my heart sing with this journey into paradise. We had to walk between gorges to link up with the next boat for the second gorge and i got to take in some aboriginal cave paintings which were fascinating. The next gorge was even better and some walls rose to about 70m. It was sad to turn back and even though the trip lasted a couple of hours it went very quickly.

We had lunch at the gorge then made our way back to camp whereupon I jumped into the pool.

Rested.

Looks beautiful :) Don't get too blasé about the sunrises - you'll miss them when they're gone!
