Pai started off a tad slow. We got there expecting it to be similar to Vang Vieng and with high hopes for Christmas. From what we gathered Pai has changed a lot in the past few years. Apparently some Thai film was set there, following that it turned into a Thai tourist frenzy with markets lining the streets everynight and T-shirts praising Pai being sold all over the place. The first one I remember seeing was "Do nothing in Pai" and "Hippys smell"....I think it had a pretty big hippy ex-pat community before it got popular with the Thai's.

Soon after bunking down in a bungalow we found out there was sod all to do here and thought our crimbo was going to be rather slow. Turns out its the kind of place that grows on you after a few days and it did just that. We moved to a fancier place for crimbo (still cheaper than a travel lodge) and bagged a double bungalow with our own terrace bit. We were over the moon, ended up being the best accommodation we've had to date.

Because Bens a lazy bum, (he's sloped off to play connect 4) I'll finish this entry for him. Pai deffo turned out to be the best place for Christmas. Started the day with a Thai massage, then moved on to the hot springs and ended the day with a curry and a few pressies. Random but kool christmas.
