Where I stayed
We woke up and were pleased that the sun had returned. We checked out of our hostel and relocated to the luxury YHA Eco Beach up the road. We back tracked a few km to Cape Otway to visit yet another lighthouse. With this one however you could climb to the top for impressive, windy views over the coastline.
The drive to and from Cape Otway was exciting enough as you drive down a long tree-lined avenue crammed with koalas. We also spotted an echidna (like a long-nosed hedgehog) by the side of the road.
Once back in Apollo Bay we climbed up to Marriner's Lookout for spectacular views over the town and coast. A good spot for lunch. In the afternoon we wandered along the beach as Ben had spotted a couple of kitesurfers braving the waves.
For dinner that night we had traditional Aussie steaks on the barbie. Seasoned with herbs from the hostel's garden.
