After two years (and probably longer) talking about it, six months agonizing and 24+ hours traveling we finally touched down in Merry Olde England. And it feels fantastic!
The only downside is that I can no longer do my celebrated (and much loved ) range of devastatingly accurate and funny UK accents for fear of ridicule or grievous bodily harm :-)
I have recovered from this blow reasonably well (there may have been chocolate involved) and have got down the the very important task of recovering from jetlag. Those of you who know me well know that i need at LEAST 8 hours and more if i can get away with it so am suffering now (for all of those who just thought "good. serves you right" :-P )
The flight was the usual trauma. Both James and I being over 6ft makes those teeny tiny airline seats a real pain. As a consequence i had to do a few small barely noticeable yoga stretches when we stopped in Hong Kong, which in turn led to my first and definitely not last public humiliation of James. (as his older sister it is my duty!).
We landed safely in London and spent about as long in the customs queue as we did on the plane. They let us in eventually and despite the guys with big machine guns wandering around we made it out safely. Auntie Janet and Uncle Claude were there to meet us and it was so wonderful to see them and their car! :-) Working on no sleep tends to make me crabby and incapable of making decisions.
We are staying with them in Wokingham, which is a beautiful old market town, tons of kulcha and history everywhere. Plus English weather although it is still warmer and drier than in Sydney!
Today is recovery and planning as we have no idea where we want to go next!
This is a small starter entry, we promise they will get bigger and more interesting. (well bigger, i do love to talk/type)
