Where I stayed

I arrived in Bali late Saturday night and got a taxi straight to my hotel which I booked before I left for a bit of Luxury. At only 25 pound a night, you get a buffet breakfast, room service, satelite TV and movies every day. I was a bit disappointed when I 1st arrived as I expected the hotel to be a bit posher but I think it just didn't look too great in the dark as the next morining it looked really nice.

The last few days have been spent sunbathing by the pool and drinking Bintang which is indonesian beer that 2 ozzie guys I met on the 1st night introduced me to. I can't get enough of it, it tastes gooooood. I have ventured to the beach once but it was really scary as about 20 street sellers approached me to try and get me to buy stuff. They are so in your face and pushy that I didn't like it at all and scurried back to the hotel grounds quick smart. Maybe as I get used to it here, I'll get braver and venture out again but it was all a bit much when I didn't have my bearings.

The weather has been a bit hit and miss as it tends to be really nice in the morning and early afternoon but then gets a bit windy and cloudy at about 4pm. It has rained a couple of times while I have been here but only at night which is fine by be.

Stayed at the beach bar in the hotel on my 1st full night here drinking Bintang and chatting to my new Ozzie mate Jimmy who came from Brisbane for a 2 week holiday, met a guy from Perth her who he got on with and decided to stay on another week and then move to Perth with his new mate. Crazy snap decision.

Hung out with Jimmy and his mate Anthony round the pool yestarday (along with about 15 other people he has met while he's been here who kept coming over for a bit) and then we got a taxi in to Kuta town to go for some food and beers. Went for food in a little place that Jimmy has been to loads while he's been here and I can see why as it was really nice and the waitresses were all really friendly. We then wandered round for a bit before heading in to a bar that I liked the look of as it was very colourful. Unfortunately (for Jimmy anyway) it was an indonesian transvestite bar and I was killing myself laughing at his face and comments of "it's not right", "they shouldn't look that good", "I can't belive that's a bloke - eeuurgh".. etc He could hardly bear to look at them and I could see the thoughts going through his head and then his face when he realised he shouldn't be having them. Soooo funny.

Anyway after the show ended, the tranny's started makig their way over to the bar so that was our queue to leave. We were going to go to another bar but it started chucking it down so we decided to go back to the hotel for drinks there.

The only bad story in the week so far is that I have been bitten about 1 million times by bed bugs. Having looked on the internet, it looks like they probably came from sleepy sams as they spray the beds every day there which apparently makes the bugs move in to your bag and then you carry them to the next place where they make themselves comfy in all your clothes and your new bed. The 1st night I got here was fine as I just got straight in to bed and didn't really open my bag but as soon as the 2nd night came, I got covered and today they are really bad. I don't know how they manage to bite so much and I have bites every where including my face - I look like some kind of leper so am mainly hiding out from people today. The website says that I need to go and boil all of my clothes and hoover my bag out so I'm off to do that now - joy of joys. Wish me luck and I'll mail again in a couple of days when I'll hopefully be bug free.

Hope everything is well with you all
Love
Jo

Bugs
I did read that stuff about the bed bugs when I clicked on the link to where you were staying but didn't like to mention it!!! Hope you get yourself de-bugged soon.
Bali sounds nice, although the beach sellers sound well scary. Jimmy sounds like a good laugh, I'm glad you've met a new drinking buddy. Will email you with CH news (not that there is much) soon.
