We got up and had a spot of breakfast (crappy cornflakes and toast) before we headed off to see the hotel and try and figure out this messy situation...

We arrived to find Lydia (the manageress) almost pulling her hair out. She had spoken with UPS who had told her that we would be lucky if customs allowed us to collect it on her behalf and just in case we should take a solicitors letter with us.  We then had to spend around an hour waiting as Lydia spoke with her solicitor, getting him to draft a letter for us, which would cost us $25 as authority to deal with the situation.

Finally we had agreement from her solicitor to do this but he could only squeeze this work in during the early evening, around 6pm on a Friday night.  This was a real kick in the teeth as we had wanted to get out of Granada as soon as possible and we now had to stay until at least Monday due to customs being closed on a weekend, we were gutted.

So now we had to take a taxi to Managua at around 5.30am on Monday morning to make sure we got there hours before the office opened as it was holiday time and we may be there "all day".  Even though the office opened at 8am, there would be no guarantees, well we were in a developing country after all, red tape is just part of the process...

Trying to put a brave face on it we thanked her profusely and headed off to extend our hotel reservation.  Feeling down after a hard week, but never out, we planned to spend the time planning and booking South American trips and hostels and to start looking forward instead of getting more annoyed which we achieved, well maybe in part!

The rest of the day was spent getting all we needed ready for the Monday morning and chilling out by the pool.  Though the hotel was not where we really wanted to stay, we both knew that there are many worse places than this to be stuck for a weekend...
