Flag of Virgin Islands US  ,

Well it's almost been a year since we left our fair shores of Australia for the unknown of the northern hemisphere oceans. In the last year we have done a full Atlantic circle from St Thomas sailing north, across to the Mediterranean and then heading south back across the Atlantic to Barbados and then up to St Thomas. We have been to over 20 countries, battled gale force winds, drifted in no wind, seen so many amazing sights and met plenty of amazing people. We have been visited by friends, some who have returned for a second go, others who would like to return and others who would never set foot on a boat with us again (hopefully on land Dave and Gill still love us)...

In the last few weeks we have had a return visitor Zac and our niece Sarah join us in the Virgin Islands. We have caught up with our pre Atlantic crossing friends from Canada and America for a Potluck dinner on Bella, snorkelled some lovely reefs and swam in picture postcard bays with soft blue water and coconut lined beaches. Wandered around the many islands, explored ruins, some recent hurricane destruction others hundreds of years old.  Pete and Zac have taken to the local drink, RUM, their excuse is that its cheaper than the water and tastes a whole lot better too. School in the morning and then games and drinks at sundown. Read about pirates and searched for buried treasure with no luck!

It's sad to be leaving the Virgin Islands as we have had such a great time here and its had the best anchorages for snorkelling and swimming that we've come across. So now we are off to Puerto Rico and although it's a US Territory it's like being in Spain (sort of).....

So now its back to practising our Spanish, courtesy of Zac, in preparation.

Hasta La Vista.
