Similarly to St Kitts, St Barts also has another name! It's actually called St Barthelemy. This island is only quite small and although we didn't explore it, supposed to be very beautiful. It's apparently the playground for the rich and famous (we probably won't stay long) and is said to be the St Tropez of the Caribbean. Judging from the number of boats crowded into the small inlet near the capital Gustavia, it's a popular place to visit. It was so crowded we did two laps of the bay checking out the availability of anchorage space and gawking at the big yachts, then proceeded to another anchorage around the corner.
This little anchorage was absolutely beautiful and also somewhat crowded. We managed to anchor close to the beach and swam ashore to relax on the golden sand. We tossed up spending a few days here, but we hadn't cleared into St Barts, so we were illegal immigrants and decided we'd just head on through to St Martin, which is only a 15 mile sail. Maybe we could catch the ferry over from St Martin and check it out later.
Alas not to be, the ferry was 67 Euro each and we thought not worth it!
