We hadn't much hope for the holiday we had planned beside the beach when we rocked up in a cold Casablanca but the weather was looking up in Marrakech and made a massive improvement in Essouaira, where we headed after an outstanding International Film Fest. We found a cheap and cheerful hotel-as recommended in the Lonely Planet I picked up before, score!-sea views and sea gulls seeking our breakfast on the blustery but beautiful roof terrace where we eat our breakfast.

It has been a bit blowy and it is apparent that winter has hit compared to the incredibly got temperatures we contended with when we arrived in Africa a few months back but the winter sun by day is strong and suits us down to the ground. Literally! Lots of lounging on the sand in the sun, Scrabbling then sipping hot chocolates in cafes when the cool nights set in over Essouaira.

After some food fatigue from the repetitive repetoire of most restaurants around Africa, Essouaira is an oasis of amazing tasty treats. We have found friends in a English expat couple and their La Cantina restaurant where we have had feasts of food like chilli cheese burgers, stir fries and soft, spongy cake that have been a loooong time coming.

Currently writing what will probably be my last blog before we head home in a few days from the funky upper floor of a small, serene little cafe tucked away along one of the many meandering alleyways all around Essouaira. As ever, my mind is mixed about our imminent return to reality but really excited about whatever lyes ahead in life...

Lots of love and appreciation to all for finding time to read up!
