Where I stayed
Big 4 Taunton Farm Caravan Park
Yesterday we drove down to Augusta where we saw the tallest lighthouse on the mainland. We unfortunately couldn't walk up it as kids under 4 weren't allowed up. We then made our way back to Cowaramup via the picturesque Caves Road stopping to see some caves.
Mark and I are a bit over beaches and were glad to take a tour through the Karri forests on our way to see 3 of the 350 caves in the area. The first cave we saw was the Jewel Cave, about 8kms north of Augusta and then we went to the Lake Cave which was by far my favourite. The Lake cave is obviously named as it has a Lake within the confines of the cave. This creates a reflection of the formations which is very spectacular. To walk into this cave you need to climb descend and therefore climb over 300 steps. By the time we finished the tour, we were all knackered and therefore decided to leave the last cave (the Mammoth Cave) for the following day.
The next day we went to the Mammoth Cave with the friends we met in Albany (Steve and Sandra). We then went to the Laurence Winery for lunch afterwards and then came back to the caravan for a coffee.
A wonderful day was had by all.
