Where I stayed
Sevana Guest House
After an enjoyable stay in Haputale we decide to head North to Polonnaruwa. This involved a 5 hour bus ride. Not so great but what you do sometimes. Traveling sometimes is uncomfortable.
We took a tuk tuk to the nearest town which was were our "express bus" was due to leave from. The driver was very kind and helped us find the right bus station as there were 4 to chose from.
Once the bus station was located we discovered that the bus was "broken" and not running.
The tuk tuk guy then took us to a different bus station for a bus to another place were we would have to change buses. Of course this bus seemed to be "broken" as well and didnt arrive.
So to the third bus station still with our kind tuk tuk guy. Our plans were falling apart a bit at this stage as the trip to Polonnaruwa on the express bus had now changed to a trip with various bus changes and hassles and was seeming less appealing.
As it happened this third bus station just happened to be across the road from the train station. We decided to completely throw all our plans into the air and head in the opposite direction to Kandy. Raced over to the train station and were on the train within 15 minutes. Why didnt we think of that in the fist place.
The train trip was lovely and this time I could enjoy it as i was sick last time. The trip still took 6 hours but the train is so much nicer.
Here are some photos
Now back to the lovely Sevana Guest House. Awwww its so nice here, just like coming home.
We have now dined, been out for coffee and cake and stocked up on pringles at the supermarket and ready for another adventure tomorrow.
Please may the bus trip be more straightforward.:)
