Beautiful, lush, Savannah with giant oaks and plenty of Spanish Moss, we felt like we stepped onto a movie set. Savannah is a beautiful coastal town in Georgia with plenty of history and beautiful sights to see.
Our first stop was Wormsloe Plantation. The home of Noble Jones a British settler who came with British immigrants to build a new planned Utopia - the community was ultimately unsuccessful but Jones successfully built a utopia of his own (his descendants are still wealthy residents of the area). The giant plantation with its tree lined drive was a beautiful place to take in some of the true Savannah.
Noble Jones helped lay out the old town of Savannah with the Utopian ideals in mind. Houses are all on generous blocks with a public square every two or three blocks, they even have an ornate dog fountain for the four legged friends. These tree lined streets provided a perfect days walk. We took a self guided walking tour of Old Town, which was amazingly beautiful and well laid out. We stopped at a British pub for some hard cider and warm pub food, it was great!
A stroll along the foreshore and our time in Savannah was up. This is a beautiful, balmy town that we thoroughly enjoyed. We wished we could stay longer.
Love and Peace to you all, the spanish moss covered, Bek and Jesse Train
