hmm... I'm at a loss for reports, so this will probably end up being more of one of those show and tell with videos and pictures.
As for Academy news there is a new master about- and if possible they have found someone scarier, and more fearsome than the other shifu's (I haven't seen him smile yet) - although he only comes up to my shoulder the man has a stature that strikes the subconscious. He will be the new Shaolin Shifu in a couple of weeks, and he should be doing a performance for the students within the upcoming week.
My master has returned, so our training group is down to six people, but with new people constantly arriving, that won't last for too long. The day (little) Wang Shifu returned, was also the second grading of the month. I came back from lunch break to discover that my Shifu had returned, and that I would be grading my Tong bei form- the ending of which I'd learned the day before. oh hooray... The end result was far from perfect, but far better than my first grading- which might not say much, as Shifu still came up to me to tell me I was too tense and needed to relax...
But bygones. I'm now learning staff form- my first weapon... heh heh! So far I've learned two types of "flowers", which is a bit like baton-twirling- except far more fearsome- and alot harder than you'd think it to be... So the new form is definitely something to look forward to.
- especially considering that it snowed again, and stopped, and very well may snow again- which doesn't look good for me, as there are several students with snow vendettas and with Tuesday's surprise snow, I found myself face down in the stuff with a Wing Chung student on my back... not a pleasant experience
Other than that two students, Max and Julie, have left to go to Vietnam... and I have been elected to commandeer a pilgramage to the holiest Taoist mountain in China- we'll see...
