Five hours broken sleep never felt so good!  I was awoken at 3am local time by the two youngest characters who were raring to go.  By 9am we had already driven through George Washington Forest, had 'lunch' in Taco Bell (I wondered why the place was empty) and were headed to Walmart for supplies.  Our kids were totally blown away by this place, with their HUGE buckets of ice cream and so many goodies not found back home.  (I'm currently wolfing down peanut caramel crunch ice cream topped with toasted pecan maple syrup - the waistline is beyond redemption).

The houses that we'd seen the previous night were equally as charming by day.  I love the wooden houses, complete with porches and could have driven around all day, drinking in the view.

Upon returning to the cabin for lunch, CJ and I cooked up some pancakes and syrup with 'Aunt Jessica's pancake mix' (I had never encountered instant pancake mix, tinned cookie and cinnamon rolls dough prior to coming here) and then the kids took off fishing in the river at the bottom of the section.  The cabin owner had dropped in on his way home from work and very kindly lent them some rods.

By evening, jet lag was starting to kick in and I could have gladly slept for a week!
