From Puerto Natales we wanted to go north and stop at Chiloe Island. To get there we took a $10 bus south to Punta Arenas and a $142 plane to Puerto Montt. Yes, you did read that correctly, a flight... And no, we aren't getting all fancy, after going over our options to get back north we Not much to do or see there... But since our flight got in at sunset, we took a $20 cab to the cheapest hostal that we could find for the night. We don't normally do planes or cabs, but the bus ticket slightly mire expensive and would have taken an extra 20 hours... and the bus from the airport wasn't running by the time we landed so cab was the only option.
The hostal was dirty and sketchy, but Kendra was able to convince the owner to give us a private room with one bed for $12,000 instead of a shared room for $8,000 each bed- so the cheapest hostal available got even cheaper. Still not recommended. The owners were crazy and sketchy, it was dirty, and breakfast was not included.
The next morning we took a bus (which then rides on a ferry) to the town of Ancud in the north of Chiloe Island...
