Celebration was the agenda of the day, the family's church was having it's 75th anniversary. For us it started with a Hightstown Bagel, the best I have ever tasted! So hot and fresh you could eat it without topping. Then Sunday School, I helped out with the 5th Grade class (something I used to do at my parent's church). The class was working on fund raising for disaster relief following the local devastation from Hurricane Sandy. We then had the Sunday School classes together to learn about the history of the church and then the 11 o'clock service. The Bishop of New Jersey came to support with the celebrations and he is also retiring soon so he came as part of his fair well tour! Following the choir and sermons we stayed around for anniversary cake, coffee and conversation.
Once we got back we had a light lunch and ended up falling asleep in front of the Football, not that it was boring just been a busy week. I managed to stay awake to learn the rules so I hope to get to a game before I leave.
So It's official I have been adopted by the Pennenga family (see name card in picture). The Church Celebration Banquet was at the Holiday Inn. The food was amazing, Melon Balls, Caesar Salad, Steak, Chocolate Layer Cake with Raspberry Coolie and Coffee. The Mayor of the local area in New Jersey was there to speak and thank the church for it's work with the local community. It was really nice to experience being part of the community.
