Bob hooked his truck up to our trailer and he and Mike towed it to a KOA in Shingle Springs since our truck would have had a hard time pulling the hill across the mountain. Donna and I took the Blazer and took a few side stops to take pictures of the fall colors.
We got in to Shingle Springs and got set up at a nice KOA close to Donna, Bob, Cara, Rob, and the kids. It was a fast 2 weeks seeing the kids including the newest great nephew, Parker.
We spent a day visiting our friend, Don, in Elk Grove. The day before we left we took the train to San Francisco with Donna and Bob where we spent the day walking around the wharf area, stopping for a great seafood lunch.
The Empire Mine in Grass Valley was well worth the drive for the day. It's a silver mine that is now a beautiful state park. You can daily spend the better part of a day going on a couple of tours and going through the mine museum with a picnic the end. We found a really good restaurant in Grass Valley as well as awonderful quilt store
