Hello all,
Not too far from Brisbane now, only about 200 k's to go and yes the car (aka the VAV) is still going strong. What a beast it is, I'll be sad to see if go. Today we made it up to the lovely Byron Bay after leaving Taree this morning. Can't say too much about Taree as we got in after dark and left at 7.30 in the morning. I can say however that the caravan park there is top stuff. It had the best kitchen setup out of the three other parks we have stayed at. I'm telling you kitchen setup is very important. For example tonight we got into the caravan park in Byron and planned to make a nice pasta dish but the kitchen here only has microwave ovens. Not the easiest way to cook spagetti, so we ended up walking into town and getting some tasty nachos. We'll have to save the pasta for Ben and Sarahs place.
Apparently we haven't really said too much about our Sydney experience so I'll go through all the fun things we got up to. I guess the highlight was the bridge climb, which we had to get up at 5.00 in the morning for. The climb didn't start until 7.45 but we had to drive an hour up to Sydney from Wollongong and get a park close to the bridge. We got there a little early and went in the first group. The weather had been rainy and crap the last couple of days and so we expected a pretty bad day for the climb, but some how we got lucky and it was a perfect day. The climb took about three hours and by the end I was good and worked out. My calves are still a little sore now. That same day we did a tour of the Opera house and went into the main Concert hall. Very cool. After that we walked around to Mrs macquarie's chair, a chair carved into a sand stone wall for this lady to watch the ships sailing out of the harbour, she was dying to get out as she didn't like Australia very much.
Then we checked out the Archibald Prize paintings. I'm not into art that much but there were some great paintings, very glad I went to that one. That was pretty much the Thursday all filled up. The next day we took our time getting into the city and didn't leave Wollongong until about 1.30 in the arvo. So we just had time to visit Bondi beach and have a little walk around Kings Cross.
So that pretty much gets us up to date on stuff.
Tomorrow we have our big day at Movie World! Wicked.
Catch you all next time.
