After returning to Lusaka from Mazabuka, the three of us ran like mad to get ready and head to the airport to catch a flight to Jo'burg. The next day, our week-long camping tour through Kruger Park, the Drakensburg Escarpment, Botswana and Victoria Falls would start. We spent the night at the fantastic Mbizi backpackers in Jo'burg. All of us absolutely loved it there and wished we had more time to stay in the city, just so we could hang out there!

We were picked up by our big yellow tour bus the next morning, bright and early. This vehicle was an absolute beast but definitely had its charm. After driving for hours through the beautiful South African landscape, we arrived at the Malalene gate to Kruger Park. The park was awesome. That evening we did a night drive and right at the start we ran into a traffic jam as other vehicles lined up to watch a beautiful male lion walking down the paved road, totally unconcerned about all the people staring at him. We didn't see a whole lot on the night safari but did come across a mother lioness and her two cubs in the dark. The next day, we drove through the park for the day and saw so much wildlife: rhinos, hippos, gnus, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, kudu, impala, warthogs and lots of birds.
