We both had very high expectations of Queenstown, desperate for a bit of life in amongst the amazing views NZ has to offer. We were not disappointed.
Day one was the most incredible day we have had in NZ. We started the day, as one often does, by jumping off a platform which was suspended 134m above the ground. I can say with my hand on my heart that this is the most scary thing i have ever done, and hopefully will ever do. It feels like the most un natural act one can ever do, jumping off the platform goes against all other instincts you have previously had. You just have to jump when they tell you to, otherwise you will be stuck teetering on the edge forever, not brave enough to jump but stuck in the knowledge that you have paid a hell of a lot of money to be up there.
If you watch the videos on here you will see that the instructor literally has to peel my arm from around his neck in order to maneuver me to the edge of the jump.  my body is sort of hunched over in fear and my face as white as a sheet. Despite all this, i actually think the build up, the jump itself and the feeling afterwards far outweighed the feeling of the sky dive (for me anyway). The feeling of personal achievement was comparable to none and for the rest of the day we were on cloud 9.
This was furthered by our trip to fergburger - the home of truly delicious burgers served in a fast food style paper bag. Mikey's came to us slightly undercooked in one half of it, so we took it back to the counter. Upon hearing our complaint we were given two free beers and another burger!! We were chuffed - every backpacker loves free stuff - and we are certainly no exception.
We left feeling very full and very happy.

That evening we ran into Alex and Nicola again (friends from uni) and went out with them and a big group of various people we had been traveling with.

We went to the famous 'world bar' where they serve you very overpriced cocktails in teapots
This night in particular however, the bar was doing a one name out the hat game, where the winner got a $500 bar tab!! Low and behold, a girl we were out with won!! We spent the rest of the night drinking free drink and dancing on tables. A great day followed by a great night.

The next day we embarked on the 'Queenstown hill walk' which is called so for a very good reason. After a good 45 minute uphill struggle we reached the summit breathless and a little irritable, only to be met at the top by an absolutely stunning view. Well worth the effort :)

Queesntown was great fun and our favorite place in NZ all together.
