Wow! I've had so many adventures since I've been here! I've been from the beach to the mountains to the city, eaten tons of delicious food, and stared for hours at the beautiful Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
After leaving Georgetown, I took a bus to a place called the Cameron Highlands, which is in the mountains. It was a gorgeous place, so green and best of all, cool. It was a nice break from being so hot on the beaches!
The Highlands are famous for growing tea, so I went to a tea plantation to see how tea is made. I saw it growing, I saw it being picked, I saw it being dried, and sorted, and packaged
Then I came to Kuala Lumpur, and my favourite thing in this city by far are the Petronas Towers! They are amazing buildings, and they light them up like diamonds at night. They are four hundred and fifty two metres tall. That's really tall! And there's two of them! They're owned by the company Petronas, which is like Malaysia's Petro Canada. They were designed by an Argentinian architect named Cesar Pelli, and took six whole years to build! They used to be the tallest building in the world, until Tapei 101 was built. Remember that building?? It's the one we saw in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan!
Malaysia has been my favourite country so far, for a few reasons. One, the food is really, really good. Two, the people are really friendly and helpful. Three, there's so much to do and see here. And four, they have monkeys! :)
Because there are people from lots of places living here, there are also lots of religions, which means lots of different kinds of temples. You can visit a Chinese temple, and then walk across the street to see a mosque, which is where Muslims go to pray. Muslims pray five times a day at the temple, and the temple plays a song over loudspeakers to let people know when it's time to come to the temple. They call the song the call to prayer, and it's a beautiful sound to hear.
I hope you enjoy the pictures! And if you happen to check out the blog today, Monday January 16, take a look at the home page of www.travelpod.com. This blog is featured on the main page, which is really cool and I'm really excited about!
Talk to you all soon!
