Happy new year from Malaysia!

Did you all have a wonderful christmas break?? Did anyone do anything exciting? Did anyone make any new year's resolutions?

I'm in a small city in Malaysia called Georgetown! Hehe! I really love Malaysia, it's a wonderful country. It's absolutely beautiful, the weather is great, there are lots of cool buildings, and best of all, there are monkeys EVERYWHERE!!!

My boyfriend Jamie (who has come to visit me for three weeks) and I rented a car and drove around an island for a day - and we saw so many monkeys! We even saw them at the gas station while we were getting gas! I couldn't believe it! They're all the same breed of monkey, they're called maqaques. They're not afraid of humans at all so they come right up to you and try to steal anything you're holding. I saw one of them steal a pot of jello from a guy, and then take off the lid!!! They're so smart!

Malaysia is a really interesting place, because people from lots of different cultures live here. It's kind of like Canada in that way. People here are mainly from three places; China, India, and of course, Malaysia itself. In the past, Malaysia has been governed by lots of different countries, for example England, Portugal and the Netherlands. All these cultures coming together in one place means one great thing - really delicious food! Yesterday we went to a night market for dinner, and ate food from China, Japan, India and Malaysia. All in one meal! I was pretty full afterwards!

Check out my Malaysia pictures so far!!

Happy new year to you too Leah! The monkeys didn't steal from me but one did steal my friend's water bottle! The monkey was very smart. The lid was on so tight that he couldn't open it, so instead he bit a hole in the bottom and sucked the water out through the hole.
