Some Info From Webster about my first destination: Leiden, Netherlands:

THE CITY OF LEIDEN
Leiden is gorgeous, filled with typical Dutch gable-roof houses, canals, bridges, cathedrals and windmills. It is truly what you would call a "college town," as there are more than 15,000 students living here. Leiden is home to Leiden University, the oldest university in The Netherlands. Thus, there is a lively bar scene, many inexpensive restaurants and lots of parties and student-type events. Different venues are popular on different nights. For more information on Leiden visit: www.leidenpromotie.nl/english/

Did you know that the Pilgrim Fathers lived in Leiden for a time before embarking on their journey across the Atlantic? You can take a Pilgrim walk through town, and we hold our graduation ceremonies in the church where they preached. Leiden is also Rembrandt's birthplace, and one of our dorms sits next to the cemetery where his wife is buried. Leiden is only a half hour's train ride from Amsterdam,

DUTCH WEATHER
It can be quite rainy and overcast here in the Fall/Winter. A light-weight waterproof jacket will be useful. The temperatures are mild, but it can get quite breezy. Guess why there are so many windmills here...? (A hat and gloves are not only fashionable, but handy, and wearing lots of layers of clothing is the key!)
By the way, the sun does shine here sometimes, and when it does, it is unbelievably lovely! Sunlight reflecting off the canals...
