Well this place certainly puts the rain in rainforest!!!  We have now had pouring rain for the last 2 days and it does not seem to be easing. Now I don't think I'm a namby pamby person who will let a bit of wet weather put be off doing things (the advantage of having a waterproof coat that works and waterproof trousers) but this level of rain is a bit restrictive in terms of being able to do anything. Yesterday morning we did don the waterproofs and go for a walk to see the face of the glacier - you could just make it out through the rain. But then decided that it wasn't really the nicest conditions for wandering around so parked up in the tourist information car park and Ade had a little sleep whilst I did some puzzlers. I can recommend that everyone takes a puzzle mag away with them - you never know when it might come in useful - and I finished reading all my books back in Peru so puzzles to the rescue!
After having a sleep we decided to return to the campsite at Rainforest Retreat (it has a bar & restuarant & a hot tub on site), which was lucky as sites were going fast and they had a problem with flooding so we had to find somewhere quick. The advantage of the Spaceship is that it has a DVD player so we watched another classic film (the not so good thing is the choice of films that they have available - think the very end of a bargain bucket). Still it helps to pass the time.
That evening we decided not to face the communal kitchen & eat in the restaurant - cue burgers & fish & chips. The place was also the accommodation for one of the backpacker buses so that evening there was a killer pool competition. Boys got 3 lives and Girls 4 lives and you had to take it in turns to pot a ball and if you didn't you lost a life (sorry if you knew how it was played, but I didn't - maybe a girl thing). Ade decided to enter. It was a real nail biting competition with some very cocky french people who were annoying the s*** out of everyone. By the end Ade was the only guy left in the competition and was against 2 girls for the prizes. Eventually it got down to sudden death between Ade & another girl - the first round they both missed the ball. Then the girl went to take another shot - she missed. Ade took his shot - OH No it looked as if he missed the ball, but not it's hit another which is in the pocket - he's won LE JACKPOT (sorry that's another story about being in a French casino) - he's won the pool competition - showed todays youth how it's done. And the prize.....2 for 1 sky dive in Queenstown - now the question is are we going to do it or not - or will the rain continue and conditions be too bad to do it (shame!).
So today is another wet day - we're currently sitting it out on an internet bus. Fingers crossed for better weather and some sight of the glacier......

Take care all.

Wet & Wild
Its all sounding fabulous, despite the wet. I'm now getting v excited for our trip - will be there in 4 weeks!

dead impressed with Ade's pool sharking, showing the French how its done - reminded me of a karaoke bar in La Plagne - we showed them then, but they didn't like it much!

Hope you manage to do the sky dive, its on my list to do - though I keep taking myself out of it - apparently, its THE ultimate adreneline rush, just not sure that I wouldn't wet myself at the terror - not so cool!

Much love & hugs, missing you
