Isn't it always the way. We have no responsibilities - nothing. All we have to do is get from one place to another and make sure we arrive at booked hotels on time. Jeez hard work huh?
Clearly too hard for us. After "the only gays in the village" took us out partying - we missed the boat for Bako National Park, and ended up being a day late and still feeling dreadful! (long hangovers bolly and beer!)
Once we did arrive however, we decided the only way to get through it was to go for a long walk and properly sweat out the toxins. ahhhhhhh.

Bako National Park - The worlds oldest Rainforest (allegedly), home to a huge range of wildlife including the proboscis monkey (which we found ourselves fondly referring to as the pinnochio monkey due to its elongated nose!) only found in Borneo - a shy animal, and pretty damn ugly - unlike the long tailed Macaque, a cheeky little monkey cadging anything it can its naughty little hands on! Our next door neighbours left open their window, and these bad little monkeys found their way in and stole everything they could get their hands on! When Macey went over to investigate, he found a huge Male drinking from a can of 7up - very upset at this disturbance, this male went ballistic and chased Macey screaming around the park until the Ranger rescued him!

We also saw a Monitor Lizard, a snake, squirrels and funny big hairy nosed pigs! Also quite cheeky animals, snuffling around looking for any little titbits they can their mouths round! AMazing wildlife and beautiful surroundings.

The first day was hard hard work. A long climb to the top to reach the main trails - then turning for home realising we didn't take enough water! Still it did the job, and after an early night we were ready to get going on some decent trekking.
Setting off at 9am (with loads of water!) we set out to do 4 treks - to see a beach in a hidden bay, a seastack on another beautiful beach, a waterfall, and various look out points.
An excellent day - but completely exhausting!

Bako was beautiful - we really enjoyed it - despite the naughty monkeys!
