Sunday, November 18, 2012

Had a good nights sleep camping, the stars were incredible and we woke up to to equally incredible weather. The sky turned pitch black rolling in from the west and wind followed...I think we're in for a storm!

We got on the road to try and ride ahead if it but no chance because almost immediately the road disappeared and turned to thick dust and corrugations! Just what the bike needs!

At this pint we lost Tommy, either he was very slow or the banter from the night before had not exactly gone his way...who knows.

As we got near to the border the landscape was littered with old tanks from the Angolan war... I think a reminder rather than poor house keeping!

We crossed the border to Namibia (oshikango) which was efficient and simple with signage and clear instruction. Did make me laugh that were a couple of touts try to show us what to do obviously on exchange for some money... Sorry pal but I think you'll find we're pros!

So, enter Namibia and we spotted a KFC...straight in!

Its quite exciting being this close to home, I am tired and look forward to home comforts but at the same time don't want it to be over.

We decided to to head west to the Epupo falls to stop and have a few days. One thing that has not been lost is the ol African distance and direction game...yep, go that way not far maybe 100km... Which soon became 220km and eventually we called it a day on 300km to Fonda camp to stay! When will we learn! Or get a decent gps and map!

Later looking at the map we found a border crossing near Ruacana which we could have crossed at today saving over 400km of travel... You win some you lose some!!

Oh and clutch watch is back on...this bike is such a princess!
