And not knowing how or why?! So, we're up and ready to go by 6:30am, our objective, Calabar, with the promise of quite streets, wildlife sanctuaries, nice guest houses and maybe even Internet.
Between the GPS, maps, "local knowledge" and lousy weather ( raining again!) we start our journey of 442km (longest stretch for some time). By onitsha we're giving each other a hard time, by Enugu were searing weve gone wrong, by abakiliki were certain and by ogojo we've resigned ourselves to the fact that Calabar will not happen. We head to Ikom which is a border town to Cameroon.
We check into the heritage hotel, executive sweat! Complete with African bucket batch and electricity that comes on at 6pm...
On the positive side (and really is!) the town is nice and people super friendly. We're gathering crowds again, rather annoying when your trying to do a map check! Asking for advice...time and distance means nothing! Had dinner in town, very hot goat stew with rice.
Bit grumpy...475km complete for the day yet 225km from original target!
The end.
