3 borders in a day... As usual we're up by 5:30 and ready to hit the road, we've set a big target (not mileage but border crossings) so we're expecting a challenge! The borders went pretty smoothly actually so unfortunately or fortunately we don't have any horror stories of bribery. While some are incredibly officious, some lethargic, some just plain asleep we've been very lucky with our border officials. Our Benin visa had expired but after some negotiation were granted a transit visa to cross on 48hours, all good!

It's a pity we had to leave so quickly so the only highlights were the fishing villages and the traffic going through Cotonou!

It's the most insane experience, survival is key and work as a group...
It was a proper white knuckle ride, thousands of mopeds muscling their way through the city. Red light? Don't worry one bike starting ro edge forward, then 2, then 5, then 15 hey ho let's all go! I've abandoned indicators any sort of road etiquette and taken a new policy of any gaps a way through. The hooter is thr weapon of choice and sense of competition, first in front wins!

We crossed into nigeria at 2pm, this was the the firts of the dreaded ones, while tedious with police, then passport control then customs, it was actually very friendly!

The people have been incredible too, everywhere we stope we draw crowd, they want photos and to have a "discussion"...they love a discussion!

Lagos is immense and wild and dirty and jammed with traffic and dirty, oh and it's noisy and dirty! Weirdly still very friendly. We couldn't face the horror of finding a hotel so we headed to Victoria island to the posh bit. Adrian's dad has a friend in protea hotel so he called and got us deal. £90 pp but we would have our own rooms! I haven't had my own room on 7 weeks!

On the way in we're flagged down by a bad boy Nigerian biker, kitted out on his BMW 1100 with a air horn siren. He offers us an escort and takes us to the hotel blaring his horn all the way! He calls himself the general and explains there are motorcycle clubs in all states of Nigeria...he then starts to call each one to introduce us...Erm random! Before the obligatory dishing out of mobile numbers, email addresses an Facebook!

Had a hot shower, a few beers on the beach, watched a movie and ate an actual chocolate that hadn't melted!

Golden!

Full breakfast in the morning too!!!
