After spending the past couple of months under usually clear blue skies and never needing to wear much over a t shirt and shorts, London in February was a dreary, grey, cold shock to the system.

People always say it rains a lot in London. It doesn't. What it does have is an almost continuous covering of cloud, which gives you the impression that it is wetter than it actually is. Though I would expect people living through the UK winter must find it quite a depressing experience due to the lack of sunshine that makes it through the constant clouds. I have lived through about 25 UK winters and these memories have been banished to the darkest depths of my memory.

My first week back was spent getting together the documentation I needed to provide Lehman with to apply for a US work visa for me & catching up with friends that I hadn't seen for years. The second part was fun and I was reminded of how good friends can be and how wonderful my friends are. People I hadn't seen for years welcomed me back - how often have I been referred to as the Prodigal Son? - and started conversations that made it feel like I had seen them just a few days ago as opposed to years ago.

Some things never change.....
