Kashgar has proven to be a great place to meet other travellers & to share & gen up on regional travel information. It is a real crossroads of a place, so people are arriving from:

1. The Central Asian 'Stans, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, etc;
2. Pakistan, many of whom have come from Europe through Turkey and Iran, so I have been able to get a bit of info off people travelling in the opposite direction
3. There are those, like myself, who are at the end of their Chinese adventure.

Kashgar might also prove to be the last chance for me to have a few beers in a nice outdoor environment on these balmy summer evenings (usually accompanied by a nice Pakistani curry, which seems to be about the best food in Kashgar). There are many rustic street side bars, not more than a bit of a hole in the wall with a few little tables on the pavement and selling only a beer (new - Xinjiang beer) that is so chemically it gives horrific hangovers after just one bottle. There are a few alternatives..... I expect Pakistan to be very dry (in the alcohol sense of the word).
