Woke to the view – dull cloud but NO RAIN. It's our 23rd wedding anniversary today.

The plan is to take a trip to Keswick to visit the supermarket and then George Fisher for new walking boots for the mate.

After stocking up with supplies the Navigator visits a small jeweller’s shop where there is a large supply of watches at 10.  Cabin Boy buys herself a nurse’s watch that she can pin to her t-shirt, as she doesn’t like anything on her wrist.  The Crew buys a new watch as well.  Navigator doesn’t find the right one.

Lots of fiddling and several hours later the Crew’s watch is still giving the day in Spanish . . . . .

As the traffic has built up through Keswick we take the scenic route down to Borrowdale and visit old haunts.  It is now raining so Kettlewell car park is almost empty.  We look for a 3G signal to transfer photos to this blog.  The next challenge will be to find a signal for long enough to upload it.

We park at the foot of the Catbells terrace and the Captain takes his new lens and lurks in the bracken waiting for photo opportunities.

We come back to Keswick and buy fish and chips, which we take to the Lake shore by the theatre and eat at a picnic table.

We do the traditional walk to Friars Crag.  The sun is now out and apparently the light is good for photography . . .

There are more photo opportunities when we get back to Coniston.  See gallery for extra photos!
