We docked in Barcelona and after a short time doing breakfast etc. we disembarked.  I was glad to be going home as the week was full of activity and I was ready, no, more than ready to get off of the ship.  On both Tuesday and Wednesday nights the water was a little choppy and being in the front of the ship didn't help.  I felt a bit off that second night from the motion.
I confirmed for myself what I already knew; cruising is definitely not for me!  I am so happy that I experienced the ports and even though short was able to visit Italy again and see a few other undiscovered spots like Tunisia and Monaco.
I will not be going on a cruise anytime soon; most especially not one that I pay for.  Had it been a nicer ship I also may have enjoyed it more. That and if I'd been with people of my choosing it would've improved things quite a bit.
During our week at sea there was a Cocktails with the Captain event.  We all had our photo taken with him which you could purchase later on in the week.  Then they introduced the Captain and senior staff to the music of the theme from Chariots of Fire.  What the what?
Why would we gather around to clap for the staff?  Why would anyone purchase a photo of themselves with the Captain?  Is this considered noteworthy in any way?  If it is then why am I not offered photos taken with managers of grocery stores or pizza parlours?
But I digress.  One of the ladies in our group on this trip bought one for herself and mentioned that she did that for each cruise.  Uh, what?
I see the appeal for others but for me; no thanks.  Next time I hit Europe it should be on foot!
