This was started when we watched his Maine episode and were impressed with the seafood they presented and also the food they trotted out from this restaurant, Primo.
The drive there was so picturesque; so many quaint little towns and seaviews.
Part of our day was spent shopping in Freeport. This was probably the hottest day I remember in years! It must have been 38 degrees but with no breeze to speak of.
I got the boys some new sneakers and backpacks and a shirt for the husband. Good prices although a lot of these outlet stores are similar.
The guys had stayed at the cottage with the girls so they could spend time swimming and playing in the water. Dot had enjoyed the canoeing also, even paddling her brother and our friend around for a bit.
The dinner! Beautiful restaurant first of all. At one time it must have been a magnificent looking home; complete with beautiful floors, high ceilings, amazing woodwork inside.
Now it was divided into separate dining rooms and a packed upstairs bar as well as downstairs bar. Unfortunately, we arrived just in time for our reservation and too late to hang about the place eating oysters.
Food was delicious and fresh. I had the fried oysters to start and then a gorgeous meal of hake on a bed of crabmeat and risotto. Yum!!
The kids ordered the homemade donuts; hello! one of my weaknesses!
I had a yummy rhubarb tart for dessert. Very nice. They also have an incredible wine list plus a variety of beers. Tried one from Italy, I've forgotten the name but it was quite good.
I had to drive home though so cut it out after one.
All in all, though expensive, we had a lovely meal and the girls ended up teaching some of the other diners how to hang a spoon off their noses.
Never a dull moment!!
