Arrived into Oaxaca on the first class bus from Mexico City.  The road was very twisty and windy on the drive there.  It took a solid 6 hours and the bus was very comfortable.  Watching Spanish dubbed kids movies wasn't that much fun but it was at least a minor distraction.
We took a cab who unfortunately didn't know where our B & B was located.  We also found when leaving a few days later that he'd pretty much overcharged us.
Nevertheless it was very warm and sunny and it felt nice to get there finally.  The town itself is very charming; cobblestone streets, lots of restaurants and shops, beautiful church in the zocalo area.
We checked in with our proprietor Judith and went to our room.  It is very cute and has a large bed.  The pool was not being used but we tried it out later and it was very refreshing.  Only two other rooms were occupied while we stayed there.  Patrick was in one of them; a retired professor from the US who was very friendly and chatty.  He liked giving us tips on where to eat or go or what to see.
We had a nice dinner and some tasty limon margaritas at Cafe Maria Bonita.  Nice atmosphere and it was Mother's Day in Mexico.  We walked around in the rain that night; at least it was a warm rain as back home it was chilly and had been pouring the entire week.
My favourite thing was seeing the local ladies with a huge lump on their back or front with a rebozo wrapped around them and catching a glimpse of a cute brown hand or foot sticking out.
Mexican babies are extremely cute!
There are lots of good choices for shopping also; everything from the painted animal figures to silver jewellery and unusual t-shirts.  We had lots of choices if we wanted to pick up some gifts for everyone back home.  I have my eye on a beautiful woven rug with fish on it.  It is too expensive even after haggling with the shop guy.
Tomorrow Monte Alban!!
