Where I stayed
Surprisingly the Mexico City airport seems quite small. We paid $14 to take an authorized cab into the Condesa neighbourhood where our B & B is located. Ernesto met us at the door. The place is amazing! Beautiful decor, fresh flowers everywhere you turn around and our room is adorable. Off of the central court it's got windows beyond a window seat that look out to the courtyard which is open air of course. They offered us a drink of fresh lemonade and we got settled. Afterwards we realized they didn't ask us for proof of i.d. or anything.
We went out to wander around the neighbourhood and ate at El Calife for tacos on their recommendation
The area is really cool. Tons of cool shops and lots of restaurants too. One we found with crazy graphic tees and interesting artwork is Upper Playground which turned out to be from San Francisco. Expensive but really different.
We returned to our room and I had a nap. Steve talked for awhile with a bunch of the guests staying there and got some more ideas for places to eat and how to get everywhere.
That night we went out and ate at Condesa Azul. Really nice atmosphere inside and I had a delicious whitefish Veracruzana which means it's prepared with fresh salsa, capers and olives. Yumm. Steve had a duckmeat mole and it had a great flavour.
The Condesa neighbourhood was stellar. Lots of great places to eat and people watch. Lots of stores and nice buildings and a laid back vibe.
Also, purchased a bottle of Don Julio Reposado to enjoy while here. And it was tasty! So smooth on the throat.
Tomorrow more Mexico!
