Surya Samudra, Pulinkudi - Sunday 25th March to Monday 2nd April 2007
How nice to arrive in Kerala, after the madness of Mumbai, the lush greenness of our surroundings was a delight. We decided to treat ourselves to a week's rest in a beautiful small resort situated on a hill between two stunning coves. Our time here has been nothing but sun, sea, swimming, Keralan food and relaxation in perfect surroundings. We had a couple of visits to Kovalam and Lighthouse Beach, where we had spent some time 12 years ago, now sadly changed with the introduction of the package holiday! We still found a few` old haunts and the bit of beach we had swum in was very much the same with local Indians walking with their umbrellas and beautiful women swimming in their saris! We soon got into the groove of bartering and purchasing sarongs, jewellery etc (great for girls not so good for boys!!) Abi, Imi and Jack seem to now have the knack of securing the best deals! Jack's the best at sending away sellers with "No thanks we've already got one of those!" All in all lovely.
