Thursday Oct 17th

Was up early and eager to cross the border but first...time of some Tim Horton breakfast sandwiches - yum!  It wasn't far to the border and I was in Maine!

It was raining a bit but not too bad so the drive was okay and really didn't take too long to get to Bangor.  I got a hotel for the night and needed to figure out my next step.

Friday Oct 18th

I did some googling and found out the name of the street that Stephen King lives on.  Had seen a couple pics too so knew what I was looking for.  It was very easy to find and there I was, inconspicuously walking up and down the street taking pictures!

After stalking Stephen King's house, I headed to downtown Bangor.  It was a beautiful day and Bangor is a cute place.  I saw the largest Paul Bunyan statue and found some great gift shops.  Had a walk around, picked up some pizza and headed west.

Ended up in Mexico.  Mexico, Maine!  Just over the river from Mexico is the town of Rumford Falls.  Driving through I spotted a tourist info centre and...the falls.  Unfortunately, the centre was closed but checked out the falls and another statue of Paul Bunyan.  This one had a sign that said to follow the footprints to locate Babe the Blue Ox.  It started to rain and the wind came up but I was determined to locate Babe!

Leaving here I got on Route 2 west and drove into New Hampshire.  Tried to find a place to stay in Gorham only to discover that the US also has a long weekend (Monday is Columbus Day) - the most traveled long weekend of the year AND it is peak foliage week sooo...no luck on a hotel.   I kept going west, the weather got worse and finally found a place to stay in Randolph.  It wasn't pretty but it was a roof over my head.
