Today is the day!  Ever since I read about Caribana, I was looking forward to it.  I even put on some crazy nails and did my make-up to fit the day.  I was really stoked!

Caribana is on for several days with dancing competitions and other events but I went down for the parade.  I was disappointed to see the 6 feet metal fences separating the parade from the spectators, really cut down on feeling like you're a part of it.

I took a lot of pictures but most have the fence in the way.  Only once I found a spot right at the fence did I get some clear pics. The costumes are amazing, really wish I could do them justice.

I went to a similar parade in London back in the day and had an amazing time.  I hate to compare but this wasn't even a fraction as good.  Most of the parade participants weren't actually dancing...just wondering around.  As the event went on, more misc people ended up on the parade route and they just milled about too.  Really affected what I could see.  Sorry Toronto but Notting Hill kicked your ass.

It took a while but I found the beer gardens.  Unfortunately an older drunk dude glommed onto me and was a bit handsy so I left.  I was really hoping to meet people my age and have fun...damn!

Another hot & muggy day and I was on my feet for 5 hours so I walked from the waterfront to downtown.  Saw the CN Tower and went for dinner.  After, made my way back to the hotel and was exhausted!

What's the world comng to that we have to put up large barricades at a parade?! Can see that it would give the whole thing a totally different feel. But WOW there were some amazing sights - so colourful. Can only imagine how cool the one in London was. The manicure is very impressive!
