We hired a car for our last day in the USA and drove it up through New York State, Connecticut and Massachusetts to Boston. It's a really nice city and after New York seemed immensely peaceful and calm. We retired the GPS after getting some strange directions and drove around randomly until we managed to find Harvard University. While having lunch and contemplating how to find a train station we randomly bumped into one of the Americans we met in Cuba, who was working in the University hospital and happy to give us some directions.
We found our way to the train station and took a couple of trains to the main Harvard station (it is a bloody big campus). There we wandered around, checking out the main buildings, squares, and monuments while arguing over which of them were in the Facebook movie. After that we checked out downtown Boston, had some local Samuel Adams beers and wandered across the main bridge for some waterfront views.
We drove back into the New York traffic about 11pm, negotiated the car return and booked a hotel at JFK airport to grab a few hours of sleep before flying out the next morning.
