It finally stopped snowing and I no longer feel like I'm going to freeze to death in my apartment. Which means, you guessed it, time for some good ole Irish rain! I think it's rained for at least part of every day for the last 2 weeks. Some nights it hails, but it still doesn't feel that cold compared to what it has been, so I don't mind so much.

What I do mind is the crazy driving. It's raining, but it's not a hurricane, folks! I've decided to chalk it up to the fact that there are no all-weather tires here. No joke, even if you wanted to pay the extra money, they cannot be purchased here unless you bring them over by ferry from France or the UK. For a country where it rains nearly every day, they are remarkably ill-prepared for weather.

Moving on to a more cheerful subject, I finally got to go to the Jameson Distillery in Midleton (about a 15 minute bus ride from Cork City). Seanie and I both had a spare day and although he's been 3 times this year, he agreed to go with me anyway. The tour was pretty sweet, and it smells yummy inside some of those whiskey barrels :)  At the end of every tour they pick a few people to get a complimentary taste test to compare the Jameson to Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker, so of course I volunteered us. It was probably a bit early in the day for it and Seanie had a project that night that would be involving lots of sharp tools, but we still had an excellent time. Side note - Irish alcohol tastes MUCH better here than it does in the states. The Jameson people say it's the water but I think not having to ship it 6000 miles so I can drink it probably makes something of a difference.
