Where I stayed
Today was the 4th day in a row with quite a bit of riding, and our muscles are letting us know that. However, we had perfect weather today, hot, but not too hot, and sunny and great. We rode from Fort Nelson, BC to Grande Prairie, AB. Shortly into the ride Brad saw a moose just hanging out in the grass at the side of the road having some eats. We were so close! He checked us out but was more concerned with his food. Once we saw that he wasn't going to charge us or anything, we turned off the bike and hung out and took pics.
Later on down the road, we saw several deer throughout the day, but didn't get any pictures as they are too fast and run across the road. I tell you, I could really do without seeing anymore deer on this trip, they are the one animal that scares me on a bike because they will jump out in front of you and if we hit a deer on a motorcycle - well, it's been nice knowing you all. ;)
Seriously though, I'd prefer to see the bigger, more sluggish animals that we aren't as much at risk of hitting. Still really hoping to get some good bear pictures, everyday I'm on the lookout.
Went to Tony Romas for lunch, first time in awhile that we've hit a name brand restaurant, especialy for lunch. It was in Fort St John, we had lunch buffet for $12.99, so tasty! I forgot how much I loved ribs.
Finally made it to Grande Prairie Alberta, so far all I've seen in Northern AB is hay fields and Canola fields. We lost an hour as we're in Mountain Time Zone now, but we'll get that hour back on Sunday when we get to Kelowna.
Tomorrow we're off to Jasper, Mom/Dad and Gigi and Uncle ed are already there, with beer on ice for us. Dad and Uncle Ed didn't have such a nice ride out from Ontario, 4 straight days of rain and cold. They are glad to be out here, where it's warm.
Only two full days of riding left, and one half day, then our trip is over. can't believe that it's already getting close. But...I can't wait to see my dog on Sunday!
I realized that I haven't put in the mileage travelled each day, so I'm going to update each entry to say that, as we'll be interested in that when we return and read this so we can remember our trip!
Distance travelled today: 364 miles or 585 kilometres
Travelled by: motorcycle
