Where I stayed
The Marylebone Hotel
Today I slept in... a nice soft big bed in the Marylebone Hotel!! Huge difference between that and an economy seat in a Boeing 777, I tell you what. I meant to get up early and see some sights but the bed was too comfy. So I finally got up and decided to brave the Tube and find my way to the Tower of London. 17 pounds later I was touring with about 50 other tourists, listening to a Yeoman brief us - and since I got there so late, it was brief.. from what I gather, there is quite a history there - beheading, torture, lots of very cool architecture... William the 1st commenced building it in the 11th century. Quite amazing. I will go back for sure...but at this juncture I just didn't have enough time to soak it all up!! There was way too much to see for the short time I was there. By the way, I did go through the building that contains the Crown Jewels, and man..... so many sparkle-ees... I think my favorite crown was Queen Mary II - it was exquisite!!!! Not that they all weren't but this one was my favorite.. (see pic!!) But alas, I have to get up early in the morning to go to work.. I am taking a train to Reading (pronounced Redding) to begin my introduction to the Schlumberger/Europe environment... Yikes! I hope it goes well... But so far, the weather has been great - which is lucky for me as London weather is notorious for yuckiness. Off to Aberdeen, Scotland tomorrow evening!! More then. Hey, I am getting better at writing more now.. I guess the jet-lag is slowly wearing off??? Hope so. By the way, the photos range from yesterday to today, Hyde Park to the Tower of London.. Cheers!!
