What a joy to visit Branson, MO.  Our original plan was to spend a week here but  Mayo had other plans.  It took four days longer than anticipated to complete our initial appointments at Mayo Clinic. This took that much time off our Branson visit.  We crammed as much into three days as we could.

After watching TV, movies, following the the "hot" news topics, etc. it is great to visit a place where good, clean productions are the standard.  It is especially meaningful to be there during the week of Veteran's Day because they pay such wonderful tribute to our military and veterans.

This visit we did not go to our favorites: Shoji Tabuchi, Yakov Smirnoff, Branson Belle and Andy Williams.  There is such a huge variety of excellent shows from which to choose and we saw geat performances, most of which are not familiar nationwide.   It seems that the quality of talent improves with every visit (our 4th).  We saw:

10 Irish Tenors.  This show is all male with Irish ancestry.  Great variety of music and dancing.  Very high energy.

Six - most popular Branson show.  Consists of six brothers (of 10) who present a musical show with no accompaniment other than the vocal sounds they make which represent most instruments.  They all have great solo voices.

John Tweed   He has been a favorite for each Branson visit.  Sings 4 octaves.

Pierce Arrow - Talented musical show with great section of Christian music and testimony.

Mannheim Steamroller - One of my favorite musical groups.  This is not a regular Branson show so we have been fortunate to see them during our last 2 visits.

Never miss a stay in Branson without going to the Hard Luck Diner.  This is a standard 50's restaurant where all staff members sing-and what voices!  Each waiter performs a number during the time it takes to eat. They are either: in a show, have previously performed or are waiting for a call.  I would go every day but Jack limits me to 2-3 times per visit.

Wyndham (formerly Fairfield). where we own our timeshares, has a Branson Sampler party where performers pop in to do one number.  There were 20 different artists or groups Monday night.  This gives us a chance to preview some of Branson's talent and choose shows.

Branson has developed an area on the river into mixed shopping and residential (condos starting on the 2nd floors of shops).  There is a water show that appears every hour (at least at night) that is somewhat similar to the Bellagio (Las Vegas) water show. It was fun to spend one evening shopping and watching this show.

Of course Jack never found a shopping mall (especially outlet mall) he doesn't like so we went to a couple of those during our short stay.

We thought we had one more day in Branson than we had booked and ended up with three shows the day we checked out of our condo.  During Veteran's Day week Branson is nearly impossible to get lodging without reservations so decided to start for Nashville after the third show of the day at 7:30 at night.  We put Nashville in our GPS and did not check the route on a map.  Not a good idea!  We figured it would be a good road because it was a federal highway. WRONG!!  We drove through the Ozarks on what the locals call the "roller coaster road" until we found a town with a decent motel.  Fortunately, the weather was good so the drive wasn't too bad but Jack does not want to do that too often.

Now on to Nashville......

Branson was great!
I went with my entire family to Branson this past July. We went to the Dixie Stampede and to the BRanson Belle river boat dinner cruise. It was fantastic. I really enjoyed the entire trip and it didn't break the budget. The shopping was also great. Branson Landing has really taken off. There are several nice new restaurants, including one my my hometown favorites, Cantina Laredo.
