My school schedule is pretty easy here I only have class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I'm really busy on those two days but it's definitely worth it for the five-day weekends. Most of my classes are pretty easy, I'm taking Human Resource management which is ridiculously easy, it's taught by a British professor and is more like a discussion on the human mind and what tomorrows work life will look like. The tests are all essays and mostly opinions and ideas rather than facts and figures. I'm also taking a Thai social sciences course which is pretty interesting and a Thai Society and Economy class that is less interesting but both classes are really easy. All of my teachers in these classes are pretty laid back and interesting. My other two classes are both marketing classes that are both boring and require a lot of group work but luckily they are not too difficult.
It's pretty amazing how laid back classes are here the Thai students usually come to class 15 minutes late and the Thai teachers are just as bad. The classes are three hours so when they give us a break in the middle of class it usually lasts 30-40 minutes. At the same time there are things that are really frustrating, like the uniform and attendance requirements. You need to sign in before every class and 70% attendance is required or you aren't allowed to take the final, and you have to wear your uniform in order to sign in. 70% wouldn't be that bad except for the fact that the schedule changes based on the needs of the teacher. Through four weeks of school three of my teachers have missed a week and have rescheduled classes, mostly on the weekends. I think I'm probably going to skip these weekend classes just on principal.
That's probably all I'm going to write about school because I'm in Thailand and school is way down on my priority list while I'm here.
The weekend after the Ayuttaya trip I went on another school trip to Pattaya. I had a really good time and I made a couple of Thai friends too. On the way there we stopped off at a touristy place called the ancient city, It was a huge place the shape of Thailand that had buildings and boats that came from a certain area of Thailand. The hotel we stayed at in Pattaya was really nice and actually doubled as a Muay Thai gym so that night I took a couple of Muay Thai lessons which was pretty cool. That night we all went out to Walking Street which was pretty interesting. It's a lot like RCA or Koh San Road in Bangkok in that it was very touristy and lined with bars and clubs. What made Walking Street different was that mixed in with the bars and clubs were gogo bars, strip clubs and all kinds of similar institutions. The next day we went to the beach and enjoyed the sun before we got a massage and came back to Bangkok. The Thai massages are pretty cool, there are massage parlors everywhere and for the most part they are pretty cheap.
