07/03/07 - PAGE UNDER HEAVY CONSTRUCTION!!!

We arrived in Jamaica on 23rd October 2006. Our aim was to get married and enjoy a family holiday and thats exactly what happened!
My family and I (including extended family) stayed at The Royal Decameron Club Caribbean in Salem, Runaway Bay, St Anns, Jamaica, we had booked a one bedroomed suite which had an extra large bed in one room and a double sofa bed in the louinge with a bathroom and a hallway seperating the rooms, it was very spacious and kept very clean by the housekeeping staff.
The grounds of the resort are stunning and well kept, there are 2 pools one of which is an adult only(quiet) pool situated by the suites, the other is the main pool situated by the buffett and entertainment area.
The beach is split into 3 coves  and the sea is very clear when the weather is good, in between one of the coves there is the Jetty/Swing Bar in which the best barman works (George) he looked after us all. At the left side of the beach is The Jasmine Delta (Asian) restaurant which during the day serves delicious jerk chicken wings, pizza and burgers. The main buffett does have a good range of food but can be very bland. This is where the main bar is also and the entertainment area.

During our stay here we travelled to Spanish Town to visit my father in law and his wife, the drive seemed to take hours considering it is a rather small island and the roads are really crap! Although they were laying the main road whilst we were there.

We went to Priory Beach where they have a beach party with a sound system which was good, it is located in between Runaway Bay and Ochi, we also climbed Dunns River, I found this exhilarating and yes I did climb all the way to the top!

We hired the jamaican restaurant which is on site at RDCC for our wedding so that we could have a sit down meal and dance in private with our guests, we did arrange the menu with the co-ordinator beforehand but the day went so fast I cant even remember if I ate!!!!

We also hired the hotels own DJ to do the music on the night, we weren't allowed to bring in our ownperson due to insurance purposes, but we were allowed to buy our own alcohol for the wedding from an off licence across the road from the hotel and also our wedding cakes were bought in from outside, curtesy of my father in law who had them made for us. ( I was thinking that my cakes were going to have those horrible walkways with minature people on them in between the cakes and I was not wrong! lol) Luckily my sister in law knew I would hate that so did not put them on the cakes. She was able to decorate the restaurant with the decorations that we had bought over with us.

The day was beautiful and I do wish I could do it all again!

I must mention Hooves before I forget, they were absolutely fabulous, we did the horseriding with them and went from a plantation house across the main road through some bush which we were told was where Christopher Columbus landed and ended up riding in the sea, they were really good I would recommend them, my horse was called Monday!

Hi
We booked the wedding with the holiday to Ja but I think it was about £450, although that was the basic price( one tier cake, groom buttonhole, brides bouquet, pastor), anything else is extra, eg photographer, videographer, hiring out restaurant, etc etc

I have recently enquired on going back there just for a holiday and the price had gone up to over 6k just for the 4 of us for 2 weeks, when we got married there it was 4.5k including the wedding so expect to pay quite a bit more.
