So 3 months ago today we left Chicago and headed for Buenos Aires. It's hard to believe that we've actually been gone for 3 months. It just doesn't seem possible at times. Since we've been gone for 3 months we had to renew our 90 tourist visa, so we decided to make a weekend trip out of it and head to Montevideo, Uruguay. We took a boat ride from Argentina to Uruguay and then a bus from Carmelo to Montevideo. We've decided that the best way to describe Montevideo is as a sleep Buenos Aires. Kind of like Milwaukee is to Chicago. We didn't have the greatest weather over the weekend, rainy and cold. We weren't able to enjoy the beach as much as I would have liked too. We arrived to the beach and within 5/10 minutes it was a trenchual downpour. ggggrrrrrr :(

Since it was rather rainy and wet we decided to stop in the Casino. And well I do not know how to gamble and Dan decided to leave me alone at the slot machine while he went and played roulette. Well I managed to get up to 300 Uruguayan Pesos (only $13 dollars) and well yea... I lost it all. After I told Dan that I was up 200 pesos and lost it I got a gambling 101 lesson. "Once you make half and our double what you put in.... you need to cash out and pocket your winnings and play the amount you put in to begin with" Dan told me, I don't know if I can put that into practice. So really I just can't be left alone when gambling and there is a reason why I don't gamble often.

All in all it was nice to get away for the weekend. We found an Irish Pub with really good pizza and live music the first night we were there. Montevideo moves at a much slower pace than Buenos Aires (cars actually stopped for Pedestrians)...it was like we were actually in a Latin American country!!! Even the country side was Latin American. Here on the expressway you feel like your driving on I-355/ I-294 near Oakbrook.

The weather is getting warmer (finally) in Chicago and cooler here in Buenos Aires. Their winters aren't to bad, low 50's upper 40's! Nothing like Chicago winters! Its not to bad when the sun is out here, but when it rains or is cloudy... it's cold!

We hope everyone is doing well!! We love and miss you all!!

Thank you for your continued love, support, and prayers.

Love always,

Dan and Sarah :)

P.S. we added our photos from the Passion Walk on Good Friday!

Statue from Montevideo
Hey guys! Glad you were out enjoying the countryside, sort of looks like the peninsula on Lake Michigan from some of the pictures, and cold...

I guess you didn't know what the statue was all about from Montevideo. Apparently, it's the statue of José Gervasio Artigas (June 19, 1764 - September 23, 1850). He was a national hero of Uruguay and is sometimes called 'the father of Uruguayan independence'. I guess he was raised by some wealthy family out there and he wasn't trying to make Uruguay independent, it just sort of happened.

So now go out there and make you life happen! Keep the updtaes coming, you'll never know; there just might be a statue of you somewhere..someday.
